I think this is the perfect project to start my blog with. What better inspiration for a creative space than the birthplace of invention - the garage. Tom Kundig designed this studio for photographer and filmmaker David Wild. The cast-in-place concrete box is made of 8" thick poured walls. It's roughly 20 ft X 40 ft and the interior structures are made of hot-rolled steel. Two big factory windows on both the north and south side allow for plenty of natural light. The floor is covered in black walnut. I love the industrial, retro, raw vibe! This structure was designed as a studio, however, I think it would make a great small home or cabin.
At the current moment my creative space is my kitchen table. A Burke pedestal table, cinnamon scented pine cones in a wood bowl, light classical playing in the background, a glass of wine, and my laptop. How about you, dear reader, what does your creative space look like?
